What Do I Want From This Wiki?

A living note. We should keep coming back to this and updating it as we learn what we want from this project.

April 2026 — First session

There’s so much value embedded in these notes. The question is: how do I get it out? How do I share it? How do I tell the story? How do I draw the thread that connects all of these ideas?

What’s emerging from the wiki is itself a wiki. So many of my notes are collections of links — and those links lead to more ideas, and that set of ideas forms a cohesive worldview. The value isn’t just in the individual notes, it’s in the connections between them and the worldview that emerges.

What I want:

  1. Surface Good Ideas — identify them, collect them, make them findable
  2. Connect good ideas together — draw threads, find patterns, let ideas evolve and compound. Ideas have a life of their own (Inventing on Principle)
  3. Share good ideas with people — reveal good ideas to people so they become aware of their affordances. This IS my principle in action: “discover your affordances”
  4. Help people be made aware of their affordances — and good ideas are a huge part of how you do that

Open questions:

  • What would happen if I went through all the links I’ve collected and tried to connect everything into a graph? Would that create value?
  • What if I just started drawing threads?
  • What if I just started sharing or republishing?
  • How do I tell the story that connects all these ideas?

Publishing (added April 2026):

The wiki should become a content management system and a growing media project. Ideas flow: raw notes → processed wiki pages → published output. See Publishing Pipeline for the full vision. Key insight: the wiki page is the source of truth, and published versions are renderings of it for different media (essays, threads, talks, interactive pieces).

The connection to principles:

The point of this wiki is to help me help people be made aware of their affordances. Good ideas help us be made aware of our affordances. So the wiki is the engine by which good ideas get surfaced, connected, and shared — which is the principle made operational.
